Help! I've got a Progress 8.1a db that I need to compact

Ok, first of all, I'm pretty clueless when it comes to Symix/Syteline/Progress, so please bear with me.

Our DB reached 2 gigs yesterday and stopped working....so I reverted to the previous backed up copy.

We have been purging old data all evening and all this morning.

Now I need to compact the db to get the file size down.

I thought that I could do an offline index compaction by using the following:

proutil d:\syteline\db\ppi.db -C idxcompact

But all this does is give me: "Could not recognize: -C idxcompact. (348)"

Does anyone know how I would reduce the file size of our DB?

Thanks for the reply!

I think I'm actually going to try a dump and load first. From looking at the idxanalys output, we are now using about half of the almost 2 gigs. (we did a bunch of purging)

So if I can't get that to work, I'll definitely at least make it multi-volume so the problem does not re-occur (at least as soon.)
