Halon Gas Extinguishing

I work in a 14 floor office building and the landlord is installing fire sprinkler system on all floors.

The contractors which are installing the system have stated that they must install a over head sprinkler in our Server Room.

My argument is that an alternative
halon extinguishing system should be installed which would be safer for servers encase of a fire.

Am I being pedantic about getting the servers wet or should I make a real push on getting alternative fire system installed?

Halon is dangerous. It isn't used all that much anymore.

How many servers of what sorts are we talking about? Installing a million dollars worth of fancy fire-suppression may not be worth it to protect $5,000 of gear... You'd probably be better off implementing a solid recovery plan and making sure that after-imaging with off-site log storage is properly implemented.

BTW -- I think that there's a webinar on DR options being offered by PSC today.
