Give access to comments object

We love the comments functionality concerning workflow and status actions. But we can't properly set the desired permissions to the comments. Example: We don't like other users than the creator to change a comment. Do achieve this we like Progress to give us(restricted) access to the comments object so we can enhance it's functionality.
