An unsupported workaround to get Progress Explorer to run on Windows 2008 is to create a notepad file with the extension .reg, and paste this information in it: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Java VM] "EnableLogging"=hex:00,00,00,00 "EnableJIT"=hex:00,00,00,00 Save the file as msjvm.reg and double-click it to enter it into the registry. Microsoft disabled the MS JVM but did not remove the code. · The registry setting that allows the Progress Explorer tool to run on Windows 2008 Server (msjvm.reg) is a per user setting. This means that if a different user logs in or if the user profile is lost for any reason the registry file must be run again as that user. · While this will allow Progress Explorer to function, when run-as Administrator, Progress does not know the impact this change may have on existing installed applications. Progress suggests using this workaround with caution. To run Progress Explorer you will have to find a version of Windows that includes that release of the Windows JVM and supports it. Stop receiving emails on this subject. Flag this post as spam/abuse.
