mallen What happens if you need 11 ? In both cases a schema change would be required. Only normalization can safe you from that. But the question was about storage optimization. 10 or 11 child records will certainly need more (disk/memory) space compared to 10 or 11 fields or extends. My expectation is, that there is no difference between the storage requirements for 10 fields or an extent 10.
