The issue with the JSDO is that when your application landscape is a little bit more complicated than just a HTML5/JS/CSS client and a server, relying on the logic in the JSDO might imply that you have to mimic the functionality of the JSDO in another technology (Java for example). The code only serves as an example for my presentation and undoubtedly lacks in a few areas, error handling to name one.
