Before you spend too much time on -B... take a look at the overall disk performance and BI/AI related settings. Unless you are over comitting memory you will see little if any difference for loads once you get past a reasonable value. You reallly need to make sure the BI cluster/block sizes are appropriate, as well as -spin , -bibufs and a host of other parameters. Find out where the bottlenecks are and tune those.
