D&L and structure file

We upgraded to V9.1 from V8.2d. Also upgraded from AIX V4.2 to AIX V5.1 64bit.
I converted my databases to multi-volume before transferring to V9.1 using prostrct. Then I used proutil dbname -C conv89 to convert to V9. All the databases converted are less than 300Mb in size except for one which is 1.4Gb. This is now running for almost 3 months and I would like to do a D&L. Can I use the same structure file of the existing db's or should I apply some V9 rules to create new .st files?

You can use the structure V9 file but it may be worth creating some areas for specific tables & indexes that are of high hit rate. If of course you only have one disk and controller then maybe isn't necessary BUT I did see something in the 2003 Progress exchange that pointed towards being able to manage a database by AREA including setting the Buffer pool (-B) size per area. Might want to consider that too.

Hi Murray,

Thanks for the response but where do I get info on 2003 Progress exchange ?
