Connectivity thru Crystal Reports

I want to use Crystal Reports to develop some reports. Can somebody suggest me how to connect to a Progress Database thru Crystal Reports when the database is sitting on some other server & Crystal Reports on some other computer.

Set up an ODBC connection to the database using either the progress merant driver or openlink. Then use the ODBC connection in crystal reports to connect to the database.

Do i have to share the directory containing the Progress Database on the server to access it thru ODBC on some other client PC.
