Career In Progress 4GL

Hi all,
I am manohar from mysore, new member to Progress family. I am BE graduate in Computer Science , now iam working in one of the good manufacturing company as a trainee on Symix and Progress. I joined this company 2 months before, now i have a better idea about Progress. But i have to know the career in progress in India. Please can any one help to about this, becasue i never heard about symix and progress before.

Unscientific Summary:

Against:
Lower salary, fewer jobs.
4GL - non standard business language (everywhere else uses SQL)

For:
Fewer competitors for jobs, so better chance of sustaining a career - if you can travel.
4GL - a proper business language.

It's a balanced eco system, in general, there are as many jobs as there are professionals.

You'll always have a job, just not as many options to choose from ( For the foreseeable future ).

Most importantly, apparently if you don't like beer Progress isn't for you.


That reminds me, holy crap, did you see the eclipse IDE webcast !

It's a great thing that SQL is an integral part of the new environment.
