Aix vg pp size

I'm about to migrate an existing 10.01B database to a new AIX 5.3 box.

The database will reside on a hw mirrored array, DS400, 14 136GB drives.

The databases files are all between 500MB and 2GB. The database is about 200GB in size.

I'm planning to make the data volume group about 400 GB.

What is the best PP size, 128MB or 1GB, or does it matter?

What is 10.01B? Do you mean 10.0B01? Or 10.1B?

Both of which are pretty darned old to be putting on a new server. I'd be installing 10.1C which, last I checked, was at service pack 2.

10.1C has major improvements in performance, scalability and diagnostics. And it fixes some annoying bugs.
 
Ooops, It's 10.1B03.

I don't really have any control over the Progress version. Our software vendor does that.

You probably have more control than you realize. Don't be a sheep -- push the vendor. There are no good reasons why they shouldn't support 10.1C at least as well as 10.1B. Alleged reasons that they cannot or will not document in detail should be considered specious.
