I am looking into switching to AIA instead of Open Client for our java based products so we can add encryption and make them more firewall friendly. Unfortuantly, I am running into a speed issue with AIA and Secure AIA. When the client and the server are on the same machine, a transaction takes around 60ms to complete, which is perfectly acceptable. Unfortunately, when the client is moved to a different machine, unencrypted (http) transactions take around 600ms to complete and encrypted (https) transactions take around 1600ms to complete. I have tested the network between the client and server machines and there are no problems whatsoever there. Does anybody have any ideas why the remote transactions would take so long to complete? Can anybody give me an idea of how fast I can expect a transaction to complete in an AIA environment?
Server Specifics:
Windows XP SP1
IIS 5.1
JRun 4 update 3
Progress 9.1D05
Client Specifics:
Windows XP SP1 (also duplicated on Windows 2003 Server via Terminal Server)
Microsoft VM 5.00.3810
Any help would be appreciated.
TIA
