thanks for the replies.... I'd love to have solid state drives, but that's not happening. The main issue is that the records/block for my data areas will have to be updated if I go with 4k blocksize, tables may need to go in different storage areas, area sizes to be estimated, etc., etc.
my employer wants to move from 10.1C on HP-UX to 10.2B on Linux. The HP-UX filesystem blocksize is 8k, while the Linux is 4k. Are there any known issues using a db blocksize of 8k on the 4k blocksize filesystem? Or should I simply make the db blocksize the same as the filesystem? ... the...

no... the server has not been rebooted, nor has the db been bounced. The users' connections were lost, but their sessions remained active with locked records. The sessions were subsequently removed using proshut. The records remained locked for several hours. Prior to "upgrading" to OE the...
Does anything have to be done to the 9.1d databases when moving to 9.1e?
Can I simply re-compile all the code and start up as per normal, or does a process need to be run to tell the db that a different vewsion is in effect?
My sysadmin wants to move the Progress 9.x install directory from /xxx to /yyy
Does progress need to be re-installed to /yyy or can it be simply copied to /yyy and change the DLC variable?
thanks
