Comment Pug Challenge/exchange Americas 2016 Recap

I have to agree wholeheartedly with Rob's review... This was my first PUG Challenge, and won't be my last. The sessions were extremely helpful and informative, and even being around since V5 I learned quite a lot of what goes on 'under the covers' of OE, as well as dispelling myths that have...

    Question %5d In Csv

If you would show us the the piece of code you were trying to use perhaps we could point out how to make it work. Also a small sample of the output csv file with your code. Regardless, glad you had a workaround.

Have no idea what this has to do with OE... Methinks this be thinly veiled advertising spam.

    Consuming A Web Service

I'm currently consuming REST services from a couple of sources (we are curently on OE10.2B08 RedHat and Centos) with a move to 11.5 or latest by years end). I ended up doing the JSON using input-output with a curl script for writing and perl script for the incoming queries that works well, both...

    Comment I'm probably wrong but....

One thing I might mention is that just because the flavor of Linux you are going to is not on the "supported" list does not mean it won't run on other flavors of Linux. We've ran 10.2B08 on Ubuntu with no issues, which as I recall is not on the list. Cannot vouch for OE11.x though...

    Comment Progress Analytics 360 pricing

Now that the pricing has been clarified, I agree with Joey... it still is priced beyond most SMB's budgets. I believe it's price competitive with QAD's BI product, and was Bravepoint's BI product offering that now is owned by Progress and was geared towards the MfgPro world. While I can see...

Question Installing 32bit OpenEdge 11.1 in a 64bit Win Server

Tom is correct. We just did that for a customer about 3 weeks ago who went from 32 bit to 64 bit Linux at no cost.

    Comment Progress Analytics 360 pricing

A small rant... After viewing the webinar on Analytics 360 BI, we thought it might be a good fit for a number of our customers. So we asked our friendly Progress sales rep for pricing... but I was rather taken aback from the quote of $20K to $50K per annum. Not a one time with maintenance...

    Convert PDF into TXT format

if you google pdf to text, you can find free software for both Windows and *nix. You would just run it via the os-command. e.g. Here is one for *nix: http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/converter-pdf-files-to-text-format-command/

    Question PDFInclude 3.3.3 -> Error 560

If you are trying to use the PDF Include provided arial.afm, you may want to try to use one of the various free ttf to afm converters to generate your own afm for the 606.ttf file you are referencing.

    Question Date Format

Stefan, The replace method does work for date display with dashes as in the message view-as as I posted above (at least it does for me on 10.2B Linux). To try and update on the other hand is a different animal and I agree that the ABL does not handle alternate formats for the var defined as...
