Migration 8.2b to 9.1b

Can anyone give me some hints, on what's the best way to migrate 8.2b databases to 9.1b. convert, dump&reload? how should the structure of the 9.1b multivolume look like (areas, blocksize....)? are there problems with V9 DB's with relative paths? Thnx for your feedback!
