    No suitable driver. (8933)

Good evening, I ran into the "No suitable driver.(8933)" error after making an SQL-server beside an existing 4GL-server. PROGRESS Version is 9.1E. on Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4. I know, both are old. But I have some SQL-servers succesfully running. When I start the database with the...

Server cannot find free port for a TCP socket (1159)

I also followed your advice to place a comment in the services file listing the range, so no one else will later think it's free. This always works well when a server is administered by more then one person (and for later generations). Thanks again.

Server cannot find free port for a TCP socket (1159)

Hi, thanks for your answer. According to netstat there are no ports used in between these numbers. However, I noted one difference between the old, and the newly migrated database: The ownership of the migrated database is progress:progress and the olf database was run as root. But I...

Progress DB from Win to Lin

    1. My impression is that a restore is quite a lot faster than a DB Dump & Load. 2. I am not familiar enough with Progress to deter which is better under the circumstances. 3. Hey, this is a learning process...... 4. Thanks

Progress DB from Win to Lin

A time-zone independent g'day to everybody, I have to move a Progress database (9.1E) from Windows to Linux for first time. I want to do this without a Dump & Load, but restore a backup from the Windows Progress database in Linux, since I 've understood that a backup file also contains the...

    generate list of tables

Hi all, I am a beginning Progress sysadmin on Linux and preparing to make my first binary dump. So ... # proutil <databasename> -C dump <tablename> . ...is going to be the tool for that. In order to automate this process rather then doing this by hand for each tablename, I want to generate a...
