Because of the additional spaces in the char dataype, comparison operations fail. We need to apply workarounds like changing types to varchar and using ltrim/rtrim functions. These workarounds affect performance and cannot be applied across the board for all SQL operations. Here is where we confirmed the issue was a Data Direct issue. http://forums.datadirect.com/ddforums/thread.jspa?threadID=919 This issue occurs on Sybase (ACE) 12.5 and looks to be limited to Sybase as it does not occur with Oracle or DB2. Ideally DD should provide a flag like FixCharTrim=1(same as sequelink) that can be set in odbc.ini for this functionality
