Text to PDF converter

we are using AIX, Progress. i want to convert some text reports to PDF for emailing.
any help appreciated in locating a converter.

PS this is NOT Windows.

thanks, may be overkill for my needs. text files are already created so where can i get this txt2pdf.p
and documentation on how to get it working.

me I use HTMLDOC (http://www.easysw.com), get the source and compile on AIX, have to works

in the pdfinclude documentation, it mentions a streamlined version for progress version 7 and 8.
how can i get this version as i did not see any links to download it.

If you install a2ps (http://www.gnu.org/software/a2ps/) and psutils (http://www.tardis.ed.ac.uk/~ajcd/psutils/) you can:

a2ps -o textfile psfile

and then

ps2pdf psfile pdfile

a2ps can add line numbers, add borders, change page columns/rows and more.

Both a2ps and psutils should be available by default in most newer distributions of Linux, not sure about AIX...

This is a huge thing for us; we use GhostScript, which I don't know too much about, but it runs on our big Unix/Progress DB servers and turns PostScript into PDF. We also use a2ps to convert ASCII-type files into PostScript first, where necessary, before running it thru GS.

We had a big project to rearchitect all of this so that GS could run on a (or potentially several) machines separate from the DB, but we eventually gave up on it. But if you are doing a lot of this, as we do, it's something to think about, eg. think about where you run GS since it can use a lot of resources and one would hope you could run it anywhere.
