Just a Final Reminder to all that have not send an RSVP yet. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* A warm winter welcome to one and all. Come and join us at our next meeting as we have an exciting line-up of speakers, international and local whom will be sharing their knowledge and experiences with us. Tom Bascon , the ChUI Monster, from White Star Software and DBAppraise. Come hear about what’s happening at other Progress and PUG events across the world. Tom is quite involve in the PUG Challenge Americas and also attends EMEA PUG Challenge yearly as a speaker. When it comes to Progress and OpenEdge and don’t forget DB’s, he is an all-out “Guru” and a person you have to meet. Tom will be in South Africa doing 2 day workshops, 3-4 Augusts 2015 in JHB and 11-12 August in CPT, as well as some direct consultations. Please contact AIGS if you would be interested in attending the workshop and/or arranging a consultation session. Tom has been working with Progress since 1988 and is well-known to the Progress community for his consulting expertise and experience with OpenEdge. Tom is a frequent contributor of technical articles and a speaker at Progress Exchange and Progress User Groups. His widely acclaimed and freely downloadable Progress tool set, including the ProTop database monitoring, ReadProbe performance benchmarking, PACE load simulation, and the Highly Parallel Dump and Load Toolkit is used by Progress DBA's around the world. Simon L. Prinsloo from Vidisolve He will present one of the session he gave at the PUG Challenge Americas in June this year. It is an interactive session, so bring you cell phone along and test your skills while ‘hopefully’ learning something interesting. Session: Of Course it Will Take the Right Index. Oh... Why did it take that one? Most ABL programmers believe they know which index will be selected by the compiler. They are often right. They are often wrong. Most of the time it does not matter. But when it does, selecting the wrong index or set of indexes hurts. Join us and test your understanding of what will happen, why it will happen and some things to look out for to prevent the curve ball from bowling you out. What’s Next! AIGS we will be talking about what is happening next in their world. Upcoming events: EMEA PUG Challenge in Copenhagen, Denmark. Hope to see you there… Date : 04 August 2015 Time : 16:30 Venue : Wrigley Field, The Campus, Sloane street, Bryanston RSVP : Pieter Meyer ( pm@mip.co.za ) Have you joined Pug Africa @ Progress Communities yet ? https://community.progress.com/progress_user_groups/default.aspx Let’s all get involved and start Making-A-Difference !
