OpenEdge can run on VMWare on Windows. This includes all of the OpenEdge products (including the database and AppServers). There are many customers running with this configuration in production. There are additional considerations that should be taken into account such as networking and performance. As of now, OE 11.x supports the below VmWare products. VMware Workstation 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 VMware ESX/ESXi 3.5 VMware vSphere v4.x (ESX 4.x, ESXi 4.x) VMware vSphere v5.x (ESX 5.x, ESXi 5.x) For the list of virtualization supported technologies by OE please refer to the OpenEdge Product Availability Guide @ http://download.progress.com/open/openedge/pag/openedge_11_availability_guide_2014_02_11.pdf ( under section E on Page number 10).
