How long is a piece of string? It completely depends on loads of different things. First off, it could depend on your hardware setup, it could depend on your version of Progress (possibly). It could depend on whether the data is in Type I or Type II areas. It could depend on how many tables are involved. Depends if it's ASCII or Binary dump. Plenty of other factors I can't be bothered to think about or type about.

The easiest thing to do is to suck it and see.

How much time it will take, with your version of Progress, with your methodology, on your server, with your OS and your storage hardware can only be determined by testing.

Which said, there are clearly things one can do to make it faster ... but some of them involve doing maintenance and some of those involve dumping first!
