Duties & Responsibilities
Leads test project planning, estimating, and scheduling. Provides leadership in regards to test planning, test design, test creation and maintenance, as well as defect tracking and reporting. Reviews test plans and ensures that software testing coverage is sufficient to accurately determine product quality. Works with the Quality Engineering staff to ensure the alignment between software testing and quality practices. Participates in efforts to automate system testing. Works under minimal supervision.
1. Performance Test Progress Applications on various OS Platforms/Hardware Configurations
2. Develop the necessary test scripts using the Progress Language, Shell & Scripting Languages
3. Use various testing tools like Load Runner from Mercury, Win Runner etc.
4. Tune Progress Applications/ Databases.
5. Develop the necessary test plans
6. Work with designers, Architects, in identifying benchmarks
7. Reviews current product development plans, determines testing priorities and develops system test project schedule. Schedules and assigns work to project team members. Coordinates testing activities to ensure timely test execution. Coordinates effort of DG software test engineers in regards to system test. Identifies, reports and escalates risks and issues to mgmt for resolution. Determines and reports the release readiness in terms of overall application quality measured by the number and severity of defects uncovered.
8. Develops and maintains the System Test matrix. Keeps system test suites current. Creates and performs complex testing scenarios. Supervises development of system test scripts and execution of system test scripts. Mentors junior software test engineers in the best practices and company procedures for software testing.
9. Provide expert knowledge of system test procedures. Provide in-depth knowledge of application usage and functionality. Implements improvements to the processes for system testing and reporting. Reviews and audits test plans, procedures, and results for adherence to standards, content quality, coverage and adequacy.
10.Leads advancement of testing techniques and methodologies. Promote test case re-use and efficient use of resources. Lead advancement of team’s use of test automation tools and ensures the test library function supports the testing effort.
11. Plans and coordinates necessary system test environments with Development Support. Participates in ISO audits as system test lead.
Identifies opportunities for improvements to testing procedures and standards.
Special Knowledge & Skills:
Knowledge of one or more aspects of the manufacturing processes. Excellent general application knowledge and deep knowledge in one or more areas. Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle and proficient in testing methodologies, including test automation. Must possess excellent analytical and communication skills as well as excellent computer skills. Must be team oriented and be able to work independently.

Qualifications
1. Minimum Bachelors Degree in Software/Hardware Engineering
2. 8 to 10 years of Progress Experience with at least 4 to 5 in Database Administration / Performance Tuning roles
3. Understanding about developing progress applications in n-trier architecture.
4. Basic familiarity with networking topologies/ technologies
5. Good knowledge of scripting languages for Unix/NT/Linux OS
6. Ability to understand & work with industry standard performance monitoring tools that are available for various OS/Hardware configurations
7. Familiarity with industry standards on Load & Regression testing
8. Familiarity with JMS Products especially Sonic
9. Familiarity with the Oracle Database/Progress Data Server for Oracle
