WORK EXPERIENCE

SYSTEMS ENGINEER II

Write in house Progress programs on the Dispatch 1 system, on VMS platform.
Duties include:

• Perform Production Support functions for Dispatch 1 system.
• Perform basic Database Administration, and System Administration functions.
• Developing files to run in batch mode every night, and upload to other systems. In ASCII and EBCDIC format.
• Modifying existing Progress Programs per user requests.
• Write new Progress Programs per user requests.
• Move programs from VMS to Unix and test them to make sure they’re compatible with Unix.

Technical Support Specialist

Technical Support Specialist for TakeStock system. Extremely involved with troubleshooting customers’ systems through remote connection. Duties include:

• Testing reported bugs on the system, and then writing them up through problem reports, and sending them to development.
• Write basic Progress programs to do queries on system data in order to ascertain where problems may reside.
• Write basic Progress programs to correct corrupted data.
• Drop programs with fixes in them, on customer’s systems, and then compile the code, and update their procedure libraries through simple MSDOS commands.
• Troubleshoot problems with the customer being able to connect with their server.
• On a limited basis, work with the customer on System Administration procedures.
