Progress Software's ATM transaction benchmark. This test is designed to measure transaction throughput of a system running the Progress database. The results are reported in transactions per second (tps). The test is performed by having a number of clients execute a simple transaction over and over for a period of time and counting how many are successfully completed during the time period. The transactions are fairly simple and are update intensive. They do not measure all aspects of system performance and are not intended to. The scripts and programs are designed to make it relatively easy to vary different parameters to measure the effects that can be observed by tuning and varying the number of clients. The goal of performing the test is to find the combination of number of clients, parameter settings and database size that produces the highest throughput. To do this accurately will require you to invest a substantial amount of time and effort. If you want approximate results, you can do it fairly quickly. Download the newly updated Version 3.5 available as either a Windows ZIP or Unix TAR.
