I work in our IS dept doing VB and integration work. We are looking at tying our Symix (Progress dB) system into some our PDM system (SQL2000 based).
We have been looking at the Merant ODBC driver to be able to get data from Progress but have hit a wall. The Symix system Progress dB does not contain any users, it has the blankuserid set to allowed, and all security is on the table level.
The ODBC requires a userID, if we leave blank it doesn't connect. If we add a user to the Progress dB, it denies the allow blankuserid and then it creates all types of issues with their existing programs and security.
Have we missed something? If there are no users defined in the Progress dB, is it possible to connect, and will it use the table defined security???
