Let me start my introduction into this forum by a query starightaway.

Does MFG/Pro support installation on databases other than Progress, for ex. like Oracle,DB2, SQL etc.? If so, is it seamless. Would expect explicit answers

Yes, MFG/PRO supports an Oracle database. Many companies are using Oracle, and it is quite stable. The system itself is still written in Progress, so the R-Code (Progress compiled code) is the same, but requires the use of a special gateway. As you understand, it adds an additional technical layer and as a result - an additional potential point of failure. One of the reasons that some organization choose Oracle is that sometimes it is easier to keep an existing knowledge in-house (if there is another Oracle system installed already), vs hiring an expert in Progress database.
