Connecting to Progress 9.1E from OSX

Hi all,

I have a client running Progress 9.1E on Windows. We are a dev shop mostly running Mac OSX. We can connect successfully to the database over JDBC from Windows machines by adding the Progress install directory (and bin) to the windows Path.

If we don't set the path correctly we get the "No Suitable Driver" error.

However I can't get a connection from OSX - I only get the driver error from above. Is it possible to connect? How about from Linux? If so, what do I need to do? Obviously the install dir and bin aren't usable as they are Windows files.

Many Thanks,

Damian.

If I remember correctly in Progress Version 9 there was a product called "SQL92 client access" and was supported on some Linux flavors. Have a look at the product availabilty guide for Progress Version 9:

_BUT_: Mac OSX has never been supported by Progress and probably will never be supported by Progress. Funny though, I think it was back in 2001 during a visit in the Progress HQ in Bedford I could not help but rubbing my eyes: Gus was using a Mac and I am pretty sure that he had a Progress database running on it. Asking him what's about this Mac he told me that he was using it as long as the IT guys could not get his Windoze machine to work

HTH,
