    [OPENEDGE]Broker rejects connection

BTW, how do I stop a running broker?

    [OPENEDGE]Broker rejects connection

Sorry, but I'm not allowed to provide details about the system. I've initiated a separate broker for SQL connections by using the article recommended by RealHeavyDude. Will see how it works.

    [OPENEDGE]Broker rejects connection

    >Do you know how the database brokers are started? I know that the brokers start automatically when the OS loads. I don't know what script or service or ... starts them. Any idea where to look for it?

    [OPENEDGE]Broker rejects connection

There's no "AdminService for OpenEdge..." on this server. Is there a way to start it manually. >Is Progress definitely installed on the box? Well, this is the box that the ODBC driver points to, and the ODBC connection does work. OpenEdge 11.1 is listed under "Programs and Features" and the...

    [OPENEDGE]Broker rejects connection

OpenEdge 11.1 on Windows Server 2012 R2. I don't see any service with "Progress" or "OpenEdge" in its name among the "Administrative Tools"/"Services"

    [OPENEDGE]Broker rejects connection

    >Is the admin service running? How do I check this? (As many others here, I know nothing about OpenEdge. The company "inherited" this system and we are trying to salvage it)

    [OPENEDGE]Broker rejects connection

Thank you, RealHeavyDude. The article refers to OpenEdge Console, but I cannot find this program on the server. How do I start it? Also, when I try to start OpenEdge Explorer, IE opens and navigates to http://localhost:9090, but it shows "This page can't be displayed". What am I doing wrong?

    [OPENEDGE]Broker rejects connection

We use ODBC a lot to fetch data from Progress database. Usually things work, but from time to time we get this error message: [OPENEDGE]Broker rejects connection. It looks that the problem occurs when there're many concurrent ODBC queries. Could this be due to some kind of limitation on the...

    SQLServer 2008R2 to Progress OpenEdge10.2

Start with creating a data source under System DSN in "ODBC Data Source Administrator". When done and you can successfully test the ODBC connection, add a linked server with Provider="Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers", Provider String="DSN=<name of the System DSN>;password=<...>"

    CURRVAL/NEXTVAL - Permission denied

I've tried to execute the same statement from a .NET program connecting via ODBC, and got the same result: Unhandled Exception: System.Data.Odbc.OdbcException: ERROR [HY000] [DataDirect][ODBC Progress OpenEdge Wire Protocol driver][OPENEDGE]permission denied (7677)

Is there a way to execute ABL statements from a .NET (C#) program, similarly to executing SQL statements via ODBC?

    CURRVAL/NEXTVAL - Permission denied

Are you saying that you have also created a user called PUB? Yes

    CURRVAL/NEXTVAL - Permission denied

BTW, I ran select * from PUB."_sequence" and _Seq-Owner of "Customer" sequence is PUB.

    CURRVAL/NEXTVAL - Permission denied

I suspect "PUB" is not the username you should be using. PUB user CAN update records in the Customer table. Is there a specific privilege that needs to be granted to use sequences?

    CURRVAL/NEXTVAL - Permission denied

What SQL client are you using to connect to the database? How are you providing user credentials in this client? I use MS SQL with linked server via ODBC that uses username/password authentication. This is the MS SQL statement: EXEC('SELECT PUB.Customer.CURRVAL FROM PUB.Customer') AT OPENEDGE...

    CURRVAL/NEXTVAL - Permission denied

PUB is the database owner and can read and update the Customer table, but PUB.Customer.CURRVAL and PUB.Customer.NEXTVAL fail with "Permission denied". I'm new to OpenEdge. Do I need a specific privilege to work with sequences?

    CURRVAL/NEXTVAL - Permission denied

Hello, My database includes a table named Customer, which has a sequence that is also named Customer. I'm trying to execute: SELECT PUB.Customer.CURRVAL FROM PUB.Customer but getting: [DataDirect][ODBC Progress OpenEdge Wire Protocol driver][OPENEDGE]permission denied (7677) PUB is the...
