We have an application that has been running for over a year now that uses an SQL Server 2005 SSIS package to extract data from a series of Progress 9.1D databases using the Merant ODBC driver that ships with Progress. Some of the Progress database are local to the SQL 2005 server but others are being accessed over a WAN link.
The ones accessed over the WAN link have started to exhibet a problem that we have been at a loss to resolve. Certain SQL queries will run for a period of time and then randomly hang up. The connection on the Progress side will disappear in Promon but the SSIS package will never complete or fail out. The problem seems to be a function of the length of the query, the large the query results the greater the change of it failing.
Has anyone experienced an issue like this?
