How to calculate the scatter factor for table using VST and without using the DBANALYS report?

The short answer is that you cannot. Neither the scatter factor nor any useful component of it is reflected in any VST.

The not so short answer is that you would could, in theory anyway, read the table and compare consecutive RECIDs to determine how scattered the data is.

Why do you not want to run proutil?

Thanks for your reply Tom,

I am having the kind of requirement to gather the data weekly for scattered tables and store that as a history in database through progress code. If I run the proutil for dbanalys report and gather the data from there it will take longer time for the bigger databases say 70GB and above.

As you said if this is not possible through VST then I must go for proutil.

Is there any quicker proutil option to gather scatter factor than dbanalys or tabanalys?

Nope. The only source is tab/db analys.
