Release 4.2 of Hybrid Data Pipeline supports OData 4.0, along with OData 2.0, and offers several enhancements to improve operational integration.
With release 4.2, Progress DataDirect Hybrid Data Pipeline supports OData 4 along with OData 2. This release also introduces several deployment and security enhancements to help improve the product experience.
Hybrid Data Pipeline provides simple, secure access to cloud and on-premises data sources via ODBC, JDBC and OData. The latest release enhances the user experience by making it very easy to deploy, manage and secure the Hybrid Data Pipeline Server and the On-Premises Connector.
Support for Both OData 2 and OData 4
OData is the ISO/IEC approved OASIS standard for building and consuming RESTful APIs. Hybrid Data Pipeline makes it easy to deploy OData (REST API) against any of the databases supported by Hybrid Data Pipeline.
OData 4 adds several new features and redefines several features of OData 2. Most importantly, OData 4 clients are not compatible with OData 2. Thus, we offer both OData 2 and OData 4 endpoints through Hybrid Data Pipeline. Here are some of the key OData 4 features that are supported by Hybrid Data Pipeline:

- Support for $search clause
- Support for $batch requests
- The expand clause has been enhanced to support $select, *, $filter, and $top operations
- The $metadata clause has been enhanced to support the full, minimal, and none arguments
- Support for the date, dateTimeOffset, and timeOfDay data types
- Supports only JSON format for payloads
Along with support for OData 4, Hybrid Data Pipeline 4.2 introduces several other important enhancements:
- Cluster Deployment / Load Balancing: Hybrid Data Pipeline Server and the On-Premises Connector can now be installed on any number of nodes behind a commercial load balancer.
- Support for Apache Kafka message queue allows you to distribute your message queue over multiple nodes for a high-level of availability and fault tolerance.
- Account lockout policy is enabled by default in accordance with Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) low- and medium-risk guidelines.
- Support for disabling CORS. CORS is for JavaScript applications that are embedded in other websites. CORS allows the sharing of web resources across domains. If you have CORS enabled for everyone, then you can be vulnerable to CSRF (Cross-Site Request Forgery) attacks. Thus, we added the capability to disable CORS and to enable it with a whitelist of trusted domains.
- OData throttling allows pagination and limiting the number of concurrent queries. This can help prevent users from exhausting system and database resources.
- Hybrid Data Pipeline can now be installed on Oracle, MySQL Community Edition or SQL Server.
