MXP/Progress Y2K upgrade question

Hello all:

Is there a matrix somewhere that details which versions of MXP run on which
versions of Progress?

We're running:

MXP 7.2A03
Progress 7.3E
HP-UX 10.20

For Y2K purposes, we're contemplating upgrading Progress to version 7.3E15
and then patching it to version 7.3E16 per the Progress web site Y2K info.

We'd like to go to a newer version of Progress but, because we're
heavily-modified, we're not inclined to uprade MXP.

If we simply upgraded Progress to say, version 8 and converted our Dbs, we
could recompile our source. However, as I don't believe that we have source
for Hypertools (it's not available is it?), going to version 8 would render
the Hypertools portion of our system unusable.

Questions:

1.. Is it possible to run a newer version of Hypertools with an older
version of the accounting/manufacturing software if we upgraded the ptdb?
2.. IS Hypertools source available?
3.. Would going to Progress 7.3E15/E16 render the Hypertools portion of
our system unusable? Progress' web site says no recompile is required.
Anyone have experience with this?
4.. Does anyone have suggestions or additional insight?

Thanks!

Scott,
I am looking at their support manual and it starts with MXP 7.3a-00 at
a Progress level of 6 series and 7.3c-06+ not higher they do not mention
7.2 series at all. I would be more worried about MXP as 7.3a-00
supposedly is the Y2K fix release. I upgraded a couple of years ago from
7.2a-00 to 7.4a-00 for the Y2K and support reasons. As for supported
Progress versions we are running MXP 7.4a-00 with progress 8.3b09 soon
to be 8.3b22 (The manual says 8.1a series so YMMV). The only way to be
sure is to run a test on a test db and see what happens. As for your
other questions I would defer to Foresight or anybody else on the list
with more knowlede on the Hypertools source end.

Generally, there is no reason your version 7 Hypertools should not run
perfectly well on Progress V8, after a recompile. I recently recompiled
Version 6 under version 8, and except for putting a couple of
reserved/keywords in a -k list had no problems and it is running fine.

HTH.

We're running Progress 7.3E15 with MXP 7.4. We upgraded MXP from 6.3 to 7.2 and
spent about a day on 7.2. (The differences between 6.n and 7.n required we load
some tables). We had no problems. We then went to 7.3, then to 7.4. The only
problems we've had to deal with were the result of customizations at our site.
