Fiscal Year

Hi All;

Our current fiscal year is from June 1 to May 31. So we are currently
in fiscal year 2000 and period 7. I just found out that the management
want to make the fiscal year same as the calendar year.
question:

1. What do I do with all the records that already have fiscal year 2000
and period 1 through 7 already?

Any help/comments would be appreciated.

We had a situation similar to this last year. There a no great options in dealing with this. We finally decided to roll everything back a year, so 2000 1-7 became 1999, 1999 became 1998, etc.
Then we analysed all the files that used the yr or prd and ran a for each - 1 (carefully checking indexes to make sure that we didn't get the same record over and over). Everything worked pretty good and we only missed a couple places with many extents that didn't quite match up with our search.

It's a year later and everything seems ok now.

BTW, we are using MXP 7.4

oy! what a job!
I would have accounting journal the totals for each period out of that
period, then journal them in the period that they desire them to be. If
they wanted automation, I would write a program to use the gl-entry file to
create the entries for them but allow them to do the actual posting. This
way you get audit trails for what exactly happened, accounting's blessing
for entries made, and you don't have to go thru a bizzillion files to re-do
everything...
Good luck!!!!!!!
