adding memo to browse in 8.1e

Hi,

Does anyone have an easy solution to adding the z_memo display to AR 6 1 in
MXP8.1e? The memo displayed in 7.4 as an option when the customer was hit.
The alternate method is to access AR 3 1, but that currently truncates the
right-hand side of the memo, and is not a viable solution. My client does
not want unauthorized users being able to maintain a customer master
record, simply to see the memo.

Thanks for any help.

Best Regards,

Fiona,
Have you considered adding a program to the zoom list for ar 6 1? you could
write a program that takes the set customer number and looks for z_memos to
display....

Hi Lisakay,

Actually thats how I got around the [non] display in the first place, but
my client didn't like the idea of having to zoom to another menu.
They rather liked the 7.4 way of doing things :)

Thanks kindly for your response.

I seem to recall a time when scrolling through a browse meant getting a "Memo
exists. would you like to see it?" every time a record had a z_memo. Problem was
it made scrolling through a lot of records a royal pain in the rear. Every time
you hit page down you had to answer several questions. This was compounded by not
being able to go to the last record. Even when you restart with "ZZZ" or 999, if
the record isn't found you go back to where you were, not the last record.

Yep - thats what happens in 7.4. My client has a different point of view on
the 'pain' bit, but I tend to agree with you.

Just to add my .02, we modified MXP 7.4 so that if you said "no" to
the "memo exists, do you want to see it?" question, then it would
ask if you want to disable the prompt for the next 5 minutes.

David, with version 8 of MXP Foresight has decided to go with a standard
browse window for all browses. When the window appears it does not do any
checking for z_memo file any longer.

Thanks
Don Craig.
